Our Team
Amresh Jain
Mr. Jain brings with him strong skills in engineering, technology, business strategy, leadership, entrepreneurship, negotiation, deal making, financial analysis and client management. His experience includes engineering, technology, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, valuations, raising capital, joint ventures and executive management. He also has experience in technology management, commercialization of technology and in using financial management techniques to fine-tune business strategy.
Prior to SMG, Mr. Jain worked for eight years at The Geneva Companies (a member of CitiGroup and an affiliate of SalomonSmithBarney, later part of Morgan Stanley). He worked in senior level positions in middle-market mergers, acquisitions and valuations. He started a number of different groups, activities and businesses and diversified the company’s activities. As Managing Director of Mergers & Acquisitions, he started and managed Geneva’s buy-side activity for two years. He developed clients in Defense/Aerospace, Technology/IT and Pharmaceuticals/Medical Devices. He also started and managed Geneva’s Internet & Telecommunications group for one year. He started Geneva’s activities in a number of countries in Asia and Latin America. His focus was to develop and implement growth strategies. His activities included mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, technology partnerships, financing, business valuation and strategy consulting. Previously, as Director of Technology group, he managed the Teledyne account for three years. He advised Teledyne, Inc. in mergers, acquisitions, financial planning and growing its operating businesses in defense, aerospace, commercial, industrial and specialty metals industries. Prior to that, he developed techniques for valuing companies, divisions of public companies and developed models for LBOs, financings and special situations.
Prior to The Geneva Companies, Mr. Jain worked for four years as a product manager responsible for advanced products at Dassault Systemes and CADAM, Inc. (at the time, a division of IBM and Lockheed). His responsibilities included evaluating and developing new products/ventures based on new and emerging technologies in engineering, software and data management. He also developed joint ventures, strategic relationships and partnerships with third party companies. Prior to that, he worked for six years in various positions at SDRC (at the time a division of GE, later public, then acquired by EDS and now part of Siemens AG), Battelle Memorial Labs and CADAM. His responsibilities included strategy formulation, product development and commercialization of advanced technologies.
Mr. Jain earned Masters degrees in Business Administration and in Engineering from UCLA Anderson School of Management and The University of Rochester, respectively. He specialized in Finance and Business Strategy for his MBA. He was an Engineering Fellow at The University of Rochester. He earned an undergraduate degree in Engineering from The Indian Institute of Technology.
Gregg Schwenk
Mr. Schwenk’s understanding of the M&A marketplace, combined with his experience in several diverse and emerging industries, provides him with a unique perspective. He has the insight and knowledge to assist clients in determining their acquisition and growth strategies. Prior to SMG, Mr. Schwenk worked for nine years at The Geneva Companies (a member of CitiGroup and an affiliate of SalomonSmithBarney). He assisted companies in identifying the right growth opportunities. He also assisted in divestitures by finding the best strategic acquirors for companies. Prior to that, he served as a senior manager with Geneva’s Business Intelligence unit specializing in the strategic analysis of the high-tech, aerospace, pharmaceutical and entertainment industries.
Mr Schwenk is an extremely active member of his community. He is currently the executive director of the Newport Beach Film Festival and a director of the British American Chamber of Commerce in Orange County. He has also been appointed to the Economic Development Committee for the city of Newport Beach, where he advises on marketing, business retention and relocation.
As a speaker, Mr. Schwenk has shared his knowledge with audiences across the country. He has chaired conferences on business intelligence for senior executives of large companies. He was a Presidential Fellow at the University of California at Berkeley, where he received his degree in Political Economy with high honors. He completed the Advanced Managed Development Program at The University of Southern California.
Mark Tygart
Mr. Tygart is a distinguished analyst with over twenty years of experience in the field of mergers and acquisitions. He has worked with a variety of investment banks and financial groups including The Geneva Companies, RSM Equico, and USBX specializing in information technology and the energy industries. He has also worked as a corporate journalist published in Britain specializing in the international oil and gas market. He is a graduate of California State University at Long Beach. He was a featured interview subject in Jan Tudor’s Super Searchers on Mergers & Acquisitions: The Online Secrets of Top Corporate Researchers and M&A Pros.
Alisha Jain
Ms. Jain is a life sciences analyst, researcher and technologist. She has conducted research in life sciences at UCLA, California Institute of Technology, City of Hope National Medical Center and Case Western Reserve University. She earned her undergraduate degree in human biology from University of California – San Diego. She earned a master’s degree in medical physiology from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She is currently a medical student at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
